Everyone makes mistakes! I try to avoid them at all costs, though they often sneak up and by the time I notice it is too late to turn back. Bullet Journal Mistakes are no different. Here are my latest mistakes I have made in my journal.

First things first. I want to share a crazy, irrational fear I had and how it totally ruined my BuJo. So I bought this beautiful Leuchttrum 1917 dot grid journal. Oh I was in love with this thing. The pages are nice, thick, and smooth.
I researched and pinned so many ideas for different spreads I just had to include in my journal. Every month I saved new spreads. I planned the whole journal out in my brain dump, down to the final detail. So what is the problem you ask!?!
I was so afraid I would make a mistake and ruin my beautiful journal, that I never started it! Not one single page. I didn’t even write my name in the thing. So an entire year passed and when December 31st came, I had nothing to look back on. Nothing to show.
I knew this was so beyond ridiculous and something had to give. So that played a huge role when it came time to pick my Word for Year in 2019. Read that article here.
Bullet Journal Mistakes:
Mistake #1
In my very first two spreads, Hello 2019 and 2019 at a glance, I got so excited that I did not let the ink dry. I smeared ink all over! I was pretty upset, but I did not let it get to me. I took a breath and moved on. It was really to late to fix so I lived and learned from this mistake and moved on.
Mistake #2
So on the same 2019 at a glance spread, I thought using my calendar stamps would be so awesome! Not to mention, this would save me a ton of time, not having to write out each month by hand.
I used some silver ink and for some reason I still don’t know, it smears and rubs off. Seriously, almost a month later and I can rub my finger on this page and silver ink comes off! Grr… I even tried to heat the ink to set it and nothing. If you know how I can fix this, please post it in the comments! I am totally open to any ideas. These bullet journal mistakes sure tested my patience! lol
Mistake #3
When I drew out my Future Log Spread I decided to only have three months to each page. This gave me a ton of room for each month. I like to record birthdays, holidays, school stuff, and so on in this spread.
When I design spreads I always write them out in pencil first. I then trace them so I know how it will all lay out and I can totally erase anything not right.
So like I said already, I wrote everything out in pencil and things looked really good. I traced everything and added the small little calendar next to each month’s abbreviation. After I was finish the page and started to record dates I noticed I had went from June to August. It seriously took me a moment to realize I put June twice in this spread!
I used white out to change the ‘n’ in June to an ‘l’ for July. I also had to white out all the dates in the calendar and start over again. You can see what I am talking about in the picture below.
Mistake #4
After flipping back and forth to see my mistake #3, I realized my next mistake. I skipped a page between my spread! So This spread had a total of 4 pages (two page layout for a total of four pages). Luckily I skipped both back and front page which left me with a blank two page layout.
This was an easy no brainer fix. I used this two page spread to list my 2019 goals! Check it out. I think it worked out better then if I had planned it that way.
Mistake #5
The final mistake I make this month is in my January monthly spread. I wanted a plain design, so I did this cute cactus theme designed by BuJo and Cookies. Click here to watch her YouTube video.
Everything looked great until I realized I had left out a box in my calendar. January 2019 actually has 31 day and not 30…duh! Well my beautiful potted cactus picture was in the way and so I decided to just draw the box around it and role with it.
I hope these mistakes help you see that not everything has to be perfect. Everyone makes bullet journal mistakes. You will to, trust me. I totally laugh at all the crazy mistakes I made this month. It is even more funny when you think this was the reason I did not start this journal in 2018. It really is not a big deal. I just had to learn to give myself some Grace.
