Back in 2018 I created these cute player signs to hang on the dugouts during All-Stars. Now that a new season of Little League is upon us, I decided to share this DIY Player Sign with you. Now you don’t have to waste endless hours searching Pinterest for just the right gift and then once again for sign ideas for the dig out. These signs are so cute and durable. They will make your dug out look fabulous and make great keepsakes for the children once the games are over. Lets get straight to it. In order to get this craft done, you only need to be able to apply vinyl, cut out pieces and paint.

Materials for player sign:
- 10 x 9 inch piece of luan wood or plywood. I get mine at Lowes or Home Depot.
- 4 inch wooden star shapes. I found these here on amazon
- 3 inch wooden round shapes
- vinyl in team colors. I used red, black, and silver (Make sure you have everything to apply vinyl, transfer tape this one comes with an application tool or you can get a set of tools which is what I have.)
- thin wood that can be cute using a Cricut explorer or maker. I used basswood.
- craft paint: I used white and bright yellow
- s hooks and chain to hang the signs
- e6000 glue
- Drill to make holes for hanging
Step 1: Cut out the Home Plate Sign
Out of the luan or plywood cut out a 10 x 9 inch rectangle. Then on longer side cut off 2 corners. This will make the rectangle look like a home plate base. (A square side and a triangle side.) Drill out 2 holes for the hooks to be installed later on the square side of the cutout.
Step 2: Paint
Paint the base shapes white. Paint the stars and the circles yellow. Allow each of these shapes to dry very carefully until set. If you are making signs for baseball instead of softball, paint the circles accordingly to resemble baseballs (white). You may also want to paint the home plate a different color so the baseball stands out more.
Step 3: Cut out Baseball Bats
Take the sheet of basswood and cut out the baseball bats using your cricut. Here is the link to the project on Design Space. I cut out enough bats for the entire team in one run. I placed them in a row and fit them all on 1 sheet. If your Cricut cutting machine does not cut each bat out all the way, use an exacto knife to get them loose. Be very patient with this step and very careful not to cut yourself!
Step 4: Cut out Vinyl
Using the Design Space project customize the player names, numbers and team name. Cut them out in your colors of choice and apply them to each of the items. Year on the star. All Star on the bat. Team and laces on the circle.
Step 5: Put pieces together
Using e6000, glue each of the pieces to the home plate. The star goes in the top corner and the ball and bat in the opposite side. You can place them however you like.
Step 6: Place remaining vinyl
Now that all of the individual pieces are applied to the base, you can apply the remaining vinyl. This should be the player’s name and their number. Make sure to rub the vinyl really well to help it adhere to the pieces. You can use an application tool or a credit card for this.
I had one sign that the vinyl just did not want to stay on, so I took a glue stick and applied it to the plate to assist the vinyl in sticking.
Step 7: Install the hooks and chain
Now that everything is set, use the S hooks and the chain to hang the player signs. You should need 3 S hooks per sign. One in each of the two holes you drilled and one to hang the player sign to the dugout.
Enjoy these cute player signs. They look great on the dug out and make a great gift for the kids. Make sure and check out my DIY softball bows. These are really a great touch to the team uniform.
I hope you enjoy these cute Player Signs. Happy Crafting!
